Edward Burrowes (Eddie) has been in the jewelry manufacturing business for thirty years.

It all started while he was enrolled in a jewelry manufacturing and design program in New York City’s highly acclaimed Fashion Institute of Technology. During his second school year, he started an apprenticeship with a jewelry manufacturing company, whose offices were in the Diamond District on 47th street.

Two years later, Eddie began working with Harwood & Moore, as a goldsmith, making fine jewelry. In 1990, Harwood & Moore restructured and became Stuart Moore, Ltd, as the company continues to be known today. As part of the restructuring, Eddie became an independent contractor, but continued to work as the company’s principal goldsmith.

In 1992 Stuart Moore merged with Niessing, a 143-year-old company from Germany that specializes in modern designs and, at the time, was expanding into the U.S. market.
Eddie traveled to Germany and trained with Niessing to become the only goldsmith in the U.S. authorized to set diamonds into their tension rings. It’s a specialized type of setting that holds a diamond in place with the equivalent of 12,000 pounds of pressure per square inch.
Any diamond that was being set into a Niessing ring, or any repairs on their jewelry, here in the U.S., was being done by Eddie.

Through his hard work and dedication, Eddie achieved the level of Master Goldsmith in a relatively short amount of time. Feeling grateful for his accomplishments, he decided to give back. And, in 1994, he started an apprenticeship program for goldsmiths from Germany. In order for a person to complete their training as a Master Goldsmith in Germany, it is a requirement for them to work as an apprentice with another Master Goldsmith for a minimum of one year. In the years that followed, Eddie’s program helped seven apprentices achieve their Master Goldsmith title.

Through the years, Eddie has continuously worked closely with the sales staff at Stuart Moore and their customers. He has designed unique and incredibly beautiful pieces of jewelry and has used his immense talent to make them come to life. His hand fabrication genius is second to none. He has also developed his own jewelry line, which is sold at the Quadrum gallery in Boston, Massachusetts.

Eddie is married and has two children. When he’s not hammering out one of his masterpieces, he enjoys fishing, cooking and experiencing the flavors of new and exotic foods.
